Which teleconverter for my incoming SAL70200G?

I have the 70-200G  with the 1.4X tele and when the extra reach is required, it works perfectly.
The AF is lightly slower and AF tracking slightly more dodgy, but overall a worthly accessory in my kit bag.

It makes the 70-200 a 105-280 lensat a constant f4.
To bring the sharpness back you need to stop to f5.6 then your fine

Im looking at the 2X too, but reviews say its not very special, and your better off just cropping the pic??

Im after some extra reach and have been looking at reviews on the 2X Sony tele. Its a mixed reaction. Some say very good, others say too much AF, and quality loss?!?!

So what would YOU recommend if your a user of the outfit.?

Does any other brand like TELEPLUS or KENKO work in full SSM AF and EXPOSURE with the lens, or does it have to be the Original Sonys?

Ive tried out the 70-400 and it produces amazing results but thats £1200, where as the tele is a quarter of the cost, or occasional use

Personally, I have the sony 1.4x and the kenko pro 2.0x. I don't see a huge amount of difference in performance, and would probably lean toward the kenko given the price difference. As far as I know, the Kenko should be *ok* for AF (with a TC, AF will always be slower), but I have the older Minolta 80-200 APO G, not the Sony SSM, so haven't directly tested this. 

More often than not I crop rather than carry the TC, but depends on your shooting habits :)

this weekend I will have the chance to do a side-by-side comparison of the 70-200G with 2x TC and a 70-400G.  I will let you know what conclusions I reach and will post a few comparison shots as well - should be an interesting exercise!
