I have a Sony A300 with the standard 1870 and 75300 lenses.
Yesterday after putting in the 1870, when the camera tried to bring the focus back to infinity, there was a continuous motor straining sound. This repeated when I put the camera off also.
I checked the lens movement and noticed that the focus ring is not turning the full cycle and gets stuck midway and with a little extra pressure, moves ahead. The camera AF motor is not enough for getting past the point where it gets stuck.
The 75300 works fine. Is there an easy way yo fix this or do I need to go to the service center? Also, Sony in India does not provide service for the Alpha system, only replacement in the warranty period, so I have to go to a 3rd party for this repair.
Is this something I can do at home (I have a lot of small tools etc) or should I leave it to the experts?
