Information for a rank amateur
« on: May 24, 2014, 05:26:58 PM »
I have jumped into the big photography pond, and am way over my head is there help? I first bought a Sony a300 camera & adaptor to accept my old Minolta manual lenses. Didn't have the know how to use them with the a300. took advice, and bought three auto focus lenses, to use with the a300, a Minolta Maxxum AF 50mm 1: 1.7 (22), a Minolta AF Zoom 35-70mm 1: 3.5 (22)-4.5, and a Minolta AF Zoom 75-300mm 1:45 (32) - 5.6  AF Zoom 1:5m/4.9ft. Macro. Don't have the know how to use them ether. Bought the  Gary L. Friedman manual for A. 300 & 350, Not knowledgeable enough to use the manual. Tried to download owners manuals for the use of the lenses, but, could not. I did all this to try to get better photographs of close ups of items using my old Sony DSC-V3. At 83years old I have managed to get in way over my head. Any suggestions other than to dump all this new equipment, and go back to the DSC-3?

Hi Lowell

I will post a link tomorrow to a video on the a300 for you to watch over on YouTube. It should give you a visual guide to get started. I am not at my computer at the moment so I'm unable to copy and paste the link tonight.

You may be able to locate the link a bit sooner if you do a Web search in Google for:

Sony a300

but I will post tomorrow anyway. Sorry to hear that you are not having luck with the camera at the moment.

Hi Lowell

Here is the YouTube link I mentioned;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vjBb-mHH-w

It's a 10 minute video which I hope will help you to be able to understand and start to use your a300 camera and lenses.

You will also find a link in the text below the video for the full review or use this link;

Let us know how you get on :)
