Well 81 runs right past Roanoke, right up the Shenadoah Valley. It is quite a beautiful place to visit. Will have to ask around about the lawn mowers. You should try to come down 81 during the fall. The colors in the mountains are spectacular

I actually drove UP 81 this November and it was beautiful but I didn't get a chance to take the time to explore much. I usually make the trip a couple of times a year. I want to specifically stop and shoot the mowers this time, it's just really a neat scene. The only problem is, I don't think there's a hotel for a hundred miles so I'll have to car camp. It'll be worth it though.
- I've always thought a good lashing with a buggy whip would benefit you immensely
