Title: See spider and raise you a spider
Post by: chappo1 on August 15, 2017, 07:06:42 AM
Not quite as big as Douglas's spider but 4 inch at least.  Fearsome looking but jaws are not really strong enough to penetrate the skin

VERY NICE!

Stacked?

If not, then excellent job getting so much in focus.

Cool!

Love the "eye(s)" contact, the lighting, and the hint of a reflection.

Thanks Cholly.  Yes it is a stack.  It was from 2009 and I have forgotten how many images in the stack.  No spiders were destroyed in it's shooting and I let him/her go outside afterwards.
He/she is confined to a perspex box for the shoot as he/she got rather antsy and tried to scarper.

I tried again with another Huntsman caught a month or so back but could not get anything to rival this one.  The perspex box is rather scratched now and I could not persuade the spider to step away from the font wall.......john

mmmmmmmmmm wonder who it was that decided they cant penetrate human skin,  dont think ill put it to the test. Dont they eat birds?  great shot by the way no matter,  but dont think ill be trying huntsmans or tarantulas any day soon,  of course we dont have them here in nz anyway.

I remember this photo from way back, great photo but it has not improved with age. It is a quite beautiful creature but I am so glad we only have tiny little ones in Canada. At least as far as I know! :(
