There is a hill about 600 yards from the end of the runway that you can watch the displays for free.  It also has the advantage of being raised up so you can get some shots almost at aircraft hieght when they do some low passes plus they quite often bank and turn over the hill

Good work that man! My shots of these didn't work out half as nice.

Are you going to Shoreham later this year? Theres a good spot to watch for free and you are welcome to join us. I wonder if there would be enough interest for a  dynax digital day out?

Oooohhhh, I would be interested in that :) Where abouts is Shoreham and when is it???

Lovely shots of the Red Arrows. My sister met the pilots several years ago when she lived in Cyprus with her squaddie husband. Mind you, they will have changed several times since then. I seem to remember seeing on the TV that they have a woman pilot now too.

Shoreham Airshow is 21-22 August on the West Sussex coast BN43 5FF

We'll be on the hill nearby overlooking the runway

(sorry for cluttering up your thread Fud!)
