Great expression and nice focus on the eye.
Tip
Desaturate the background to almost grey (but not quite) beyond the post then it will not distract...john

The composition works well with your subject on the right, looking into the 'empty space' on the left, but as John said the bright stall (?) in the left hand background does draw the eye.

The background to the right looks to have more muted tones, so perhaps a slight desaturation combined with a ND over the left (to make it more of a match to the Right hand background) would be sufficient - keeping the colour, but just a bit more subdued?
It is difficult to explain to white mice that black cats are lucky...
