Lens set to 1.8 and was hoping for shallower depth of field but this is what the Sony 24 1.8 does.

^^^Your angle of view was approximately the same as a Full Frame camera with a 36mm focal length lens attached. You had to get VERY close in order to fill the frame so there was NO compression to help you with DOF....

Looks like a middle of the day shot too...

To expand on Cholly's comment, with a 24mm @ f/1.8 on APS-C, at 1m from the subject DOF is just under 2m, at 1.5m this jumps to 18m!
Wide angle lenses give lots of DOF :)
It is difficult to explain to white mice that black cats are lucky...

I like the pose and her expression.  A touch more light into the eyes would be nice but I have no other suggestions...john
