Butterfly Garden
« on: July 28, 2010, 12:31:17 AM »
Our weather has been terribly hot recently, so I haven't been out with camera much lately. Cooled down some with overcast skies today so I visited a local botanical garden.   All shot with A700 & Sigma 105 macro.

Eastern Tiger swallowtail (yellow female)

Eastern Tiger swallowtail (black female)

Monarch

A moth that I have not identified yet. (very fast moving)

Great series of images. I seen a eastern tiger swallowtail but it never landed so I could get a shot.

Lovely pictures peter, sorry to hear it has been so hot, a little jelous too though :). That last one looks like one of the humming bird moths http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphingidae. I have about a thousand blurred pictures of european ones if you are interested :) but that one is great.
