Cracking shots there fother - for some reason I especially like the fourth one with it on it's back.  She/he seems to be a good model turning to camera on command :)
How big is the little critter?  Also is the lens a new addition as I don't remember you having one of those before??

Hi Fud,

it was about 3 inches long, head to tail (ignoring legs). Whatever direction it was heading, it's eyes were spun around watching me, which makes for some fun shots. Often he was walking directly away, but still looking at me :)

Yep, the 200 macro is new, bought from a guy in queensland. Got it maybe a week ago.

Sometime soon I'll do a side by side test of the 200/4 macro and the 100/2.8 macro with 2x TC. ;)

The first one looks nice.

The rest are just 'playing with new lens' shots. :)

Nice shots :)

Perhaps a little more depth of field required?
Doesn't seem to be as sharp as the 100mm you posted shots of before.

Might be worth trying both on the same subject (with and without the x2 converter).

Hope to see some later :)

It is funny how there is always one shot that defines the subject and all the other ones leave soemthing out. In this case the first one, but in drawings they are always depicted from the side so as you can see their abdomen in profile, but not as nice a shot for me in  a photo.

I think there are lots of very similar species and that knowing where it is found is one of the things that defines the species, where is this one from?

Nice series. #1 Top shot

I reckon it's of the genus 'Brownus Creepycrawlyus'. An easily handled and non venemous critter, unlike the black and white 'Collingwood Supporterus' :) ( appoligies to non Aussie Rules followers)

Hey rob, not sure if it is ethical but i ordered something from a place like this with the intention of putting them down the toilet afterwards but the kids ended up making us keep them instead.

http://www.bugzuk.com/ Mail order scorpions?!?! what will they think of next envelopes full of anthrax? Well thats bound to get the site noticed ;).

Heh, it's a nice lens, but soooo heavy, I'm sure the postage costs would put you off ;)

(actually, I'm still debating whether the back pain of lugging it around Spain in a few weeks will be worth it!)

Tim, that's a cool link - thanks

Ali - if it was a 'Collingwood Supporterus' I would have squished it with my foot, not photographed it ;)
