A few random images
« on: December 30, 2017, 10:10:12 AM »
Apologies for not posting anything recently. Auld maw is still out of action so i've not had much time to myself never mind for photography.

Can't remember where I got up to with posting of images so a few randomly chosen shots.
Birks of Aberfely

Seilebost beach, Isle of Harris

Hidden Harris beach, only visible at low tide

All shot with the A7rii and Zeiss Loxia 21mm. My favourite combo at the moment

The light was fantastic as i was driving along the narrow road by the banks of Loch Lurgainn, Assynt. By the time i reached this spot, got out the car and down over the rather soggy moorland it had all but vanished. This was taken under the shelter of a golf brolly where i ended up sheltering for a good 20mins whilst the rain and wind abated. The mountain across the Loch is Stac Pollaidh (pronounced Stack Polly)

Dun Carloway Broch, Isle of Lewis (Dùn Chàrlabhaigh). A bus load of tourists appeared so i went with a long exposure to hide them all although there is a ghost of a person in the Broch.

Also with the A7rii and Loxia 21mm

A few random comments on the random images.

You have some great scenes around you. I know I lack imagination and would probably drive/walk past most of them.
As always- the effect on me
Aberfely- my eye has difficulty getting past the bottom right hand corner.  A dab of darkening or a little desaturation of the orange leaves to match the leaves further into the image would do it for me.

Selibost beach- I would be tempted to darken the middle section a little.  Again my eye finds this the brightest and wants to stop there.

My pick would be stack polly under the brolly

I know you put them up for our benefit but folks go to the effort and so we should respond.

Yes Chris.... BEAUTIFULLY DONE as usual.

1, 3, 6 in that order are my picks.

I REALLY like 1 for ALL the obvious reasons. 3 is good too, though not as perfect. And 6 is also a great image and I understand WHY you included the foreground tree and down-slope view in the image. But I think that peak in the clouds is strong enough on it's own to hold the majority of the interest, even with very little other context.

AGAIN, you sir are a MASTER of landscapes... Well done!
