A couple of birds..............

Took a short trip out today (took Giles with us too)to a local ponds and came back with these.

The first is a slight crop, the second is full frame and the exposure for the second one was ISO800 +1.0EV 1/40th @ f5.6 using the Tamron 70-300 f4/5.6 Di LD

Nice eye contact on both Gordon.  On my screen, you could brighten the first one a little...john

funny you say that on your screen, you could brighten the first one a little, as Jan says that pictures appear darker on my screen than hers.........

Nice pose on the last one but a shame the branch is in front of her beak. Also - there seems to be some CA around the same branch.  I'm assuming the image may have been (partly) backlit which is always difficult.

the second one was shooting directly into the sun and overexposed by 1ev,I find that this does happen with the Tamron 70-300 I have...........
