Thanks both of you- what really concerned me was all the dust spots on the sensor and I got the cleaner out and dealt it.  Now need to re-shoot when time permits......john

I only see a couple at normal amplification. Can't you just photoshop them out?

There are people who actually think LENS stabilization is better than sensor shifting!

I like the concept, but I find the way the balls lost their texture / detail (which you can see in the one lowest in the frame) jarring.
The vase also looks like it might have an interesting colour / pattern to it, so perhaps a shot from a slightly lower angle, to expose more of the vase would work well?
It is difficult to explain to white mice that black cats are lucky...
