Sony do not write the serial number in exif
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:58:14 AM »
well apart from the A100,

The majority of camera manufactures do and I can see this as a benefit, helping prove copyright of an image as it was your camera that took the picture, helping track down lost or stolen cameras, as I am sure most people will upload an image at some point to the web so with sites such as http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/ and could help you reunite with your equipment,

Obviously Sony know about it as they did have it in one camera seems strange why it was removed from later models, I for one would would like to see it reinstated, my only other thought that it is not now encoded into the camera and just a label on the camera,

either way an omission that really should be there imho

Totally agree Rick it a strange omission for sure?

It also makes it harder I think to both buy and sell sony camera's as there no record of how much use it has had?
