Not with a SONY
« on: October 12, 2013, 06:22:11 PM »
Went to India for a short vacation. My bad back said to carry my Fujifilm X-S1. It could not match my A580 for AF or resolution. Still got a few good shots. The zoom range and slightly larger than P&S sensors makes it versatile.

Those are excellent in terms of sharpness, colour and bokeh Subbu.

I especially like the dragon fly.

I sympathise with your back pain.I`m waiting for an MRI scan to determine the exact cause of my chronic back pain before a treatment plan is formulated. At the moment lifting my dSLR up to my eye is nigh on impossible.
I can do very little.

Thanks Dave. Had a ruptured disc and it makes me think of carrying the heavy gear. Hope yours wouldn't be bad.

A580 is only mid-sized but when all those lenses are added it becomes heavy to lug around. Fuji colurs are wonderful but the highlights get easily "bleached" out. And those shots are not cropped. If I start cropping it becomes crap - smaller senosor than a DSLR :-(

Morning Subbu.

As to my back, there is arthritis present but they suspect something else, hence the MRI.

I always shoot raw and use + or - AV according to the subject.Things are easily corrected in ACR.

Is that a Hibiscus?

Good luck with your treatment.

it's a hibiscus.

though XS1 shoots RAW, the file doesn't have the kind of flexibility of a dslr.it looks same be it be RAW or JPG.must be the less bits doesn't give teh tonal range.

Love the dragon fly, lovely and sharp.

I think the leaves behind the flower are slightly distracting, I guess you needed a larger aperture, smaller depth of field, but not sure how much control you have with your Fuji camera.

Hope your back is better soon, not being able to do what you love is so frustrating,

I like both them, nice work. I have 2 weeks in Thailand coming up and weight of my camera bag is always an issue as always back problems aside. I often think I'd like a travel camera but then I think about how many years it has taken to build a good kit and always take more gear than I use. always regret it too. We are a bunch of old cripples, with you all there on the back. Blown L4-5.
