Title: Lens Fungus
Post by: Wildmoreway on September 12, 2012, 12:58:37 PM
I was examining a Tamron 28 to 200 lens today where normal attempts at cleaning the font element had failed and on cose examintion, it looked as if there was internal fungus on the lens. Another final try this time by the discredited method of breathing on it and using a cotton bud and the "apparent" fungus turned out to be on the outside of the lens and was succesfully removed. A further check of an old Ensinor Pentax fit lens that appeared to have the same problem was then solved in the same way. So the moral is before casting the lens out and all else has failed, try warm breath and a cotton bud.
