Konica Minolta 5D photos coming out pink.
« on: April 27, 2014, 05:08:40 PM »
I hope someone can help me with my Konica Minolta Dynax 5D

I cleaned the CCD and now my pictures all have a pink tinge. Maybe the cleaning wasn’t the cause because I was quite gentle with it.

Has anyone an idea what can be wrong?

Any help would be gratefully received because it looks like it is going to be dumped very soon if this continues.

I would insert an image if I could find out how to do it.

AScot made a good suggestion.
I always have questions
How pink is pink ?  can you post an image to show us?
Do you shoot raw or jpg?  If it is raw. can you correct it?
My 5D developed the first frame black disease a few years back and has been retired so you have done well out of yours.

Finally- welcome to the forum...john

Thank you for your reply. I have reset the camera a couple of times and taken photos with the four WB settings, all are the same. I would post an image but when I click the image button all I get is this - I don't know what I am supposed to do with that, it doesn't go to browse to select an image.
It seems that one of the colours is missing from the images so I am guessing that the CCD has developed a fault and I suspect that even if it could be repaired it would be uneconomical to do so, I bought it in September 2005. Pity, I really liked that camera.
I don't think I will continue with Sony though despite have perfectly good lenses that will be useless.

I note when posting the disappears. I haven't a clue how to insert an image, I have been using computers for 30 years but this forum baffles me.

To Insert an image you need to first have it uploaded to somewhere on the internet - your own website, Flickr, etc.

Then use he button to get the [ img ] [ /img ] tags (spaces added to get them to appear!) and put the URL of the image between the tags

[ img ] <URL Goes here>  [ /img ]

Simplest way to see an example is to browns the the 'Images to share' section, select a post with images in and hit 'quote' - use the back button on your browser afterwards to avoid reposting the post you've examined!

Hi stephenmission - 1st; Welcome to the group.

In regards to placing an image in your post the forum does have some guide posts to do it and they can be found in the 'sticky' posts in the area for Photo Sharing etc. They can take a bit of working through though so...

As Faldrax has said, it needs to be on a 'hosting' site such as Flickr, SmugMug etc first and you could have a go at looking at other posts with pics in by using the "Quote" if you were to reply to that post and wanted to include a copy of the post in your reply; it will show you the brackets and image link and then close brackets.

This forum has 'size' limits; 800pxl along the longest edge and under 200kb (I think?).
You then need to make sure that it is 'public' viewable (not private) and right mouse click on it to copy "copy image location" from the mini menu that comes up.
You then return here (best to have both sites open on separate windows/tabs) and need to paste the copied link address between the [ img ] [ /img ] text that you get when you select the icon under the B (bold text symbol). Please note that I have inserted spaces between the [ and 'img' text for them to show.

If you don't paste the link between the [ img ] [ /img ] then all you will have is the link itself and not a copy of the shot itself.

To check that it has worked go the 'Preview' for the post (below and to the right of the text input area) and your image should appear.

I unfortunately am unable to give an idea on what may be causing the colour cast.

Try again, yellow flowers. I think you have to right click and open that way. It is uploaded to Dropbox.

Maybe if you just paste the web link then we will be able to see it by us clicking on the link. With dropbox I think you have to make it shareable. Your link does not show...

Try again or this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/0km6og4pogjn2qj/Fritillaria%20lutea.JPG

That seems to work, thanks. The flowers are supposed to be daffodil yellow.

Stephen

I have taken the liberty to download a copy and resize it to then upload to my Flickr site to be able to post it here.

BUT pasting the link between the [ img ] [ /img ] which SHOULD reveal it does not work with this image!?

I WILL delete it from my Flickr site and others will need to view your image via the link you gave. I will also delete it from my computer.

Thanks so much. The picture is not important to me so do what you want with it.
I think I am resigned to having to junk the camera.

I think there may be an issue with the new Flickr set up and being able to show a shot here in the Forum?? As in the edited post above your shot would not show as a small image with the added link pasted below so I have tried with one of mine.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/wirehawker/9334236859/in/photostream/

Doing a "Preview" before posting to the thread it does NOT show the shot as it used to - HENCE the empty space above the link you can see... :(

Any other users have this issue - - - OR is it because of the 's' at the end of the http? I'll post that as a new thread...

Just checked others in the "Photos to Share" section and it appears not to be the 's'. I also noticed that a link shows as 'staticflickr' were as mine shows differently?!

flickr have changed their system again. What you do is click on the photo in your photostream. That will take you to a page that shows your photo and some other stuff. On the right click on "Share this photo" (the square with the arrow sticking out the top right corner.) A fly out will open and you choose BBCODE and next to Square 75 × 75 > choose the size you want to display. The link will turn blue and you copy that into your reply at this website. no need to add the image tags as they are already in the link. You may want to trim the flickr adds from your link before posting as flickr adds extraneous info. You only need the part that starts with the img tags and finishes with .jpg

This is the full flickr link to my photo (with a space added so that you can see it and the required portion is in bold)

[url =https://flic.kr/p/mNvENa][ img]https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/13653482933_c4ded94915_c.jpg[/img][/url]066 - 1680 x 1050 by brucec13, on Flickr

Don't forget to remove the space I added, its in the first [ img] tag

This is the photo using the bold part of the link. Its looking out a dirty window from my new house.

Thanks for giving that explanation Ascot.

I followed your steps but after selecting the BBCode nothing happened... maybe I was supposed to do something else afterwards that I hadn't made out in your reply?

I had to refresh the Flickr site for the pic and then (as I'd seen sizes in the "Download Photo" menu list (other options; 3 little circles) it brought up the "Download" (bright blue box) BUT I then noticed the "View all sizes" to the left of it. Selecting that took me to the 'old' familiar page for all sizes with the right mouse click/menu options as of old.

Apologies to Stephen for way laying his thread... maybe some one can give a reply to help him in respect of the colour cast;
