Haha, yep not too much left there..lol.

I am just a month or two into a 2 year subscription. So a little more. Still not sure what I will do. Flickr was always a good place to link to my photos. I have never uploaded full size photos there and have all on mine backed up on hard drives. (thanks for that Pi.pe info, that looks very nice.)

I am thinking if I am going to pay for a hosting site, I am liking what I am reading about smugmug. But I don't sell, so maybe Photobucket will be all that I need. Their update made them better, still the old flickr was just so easy to organize and customize. Oh well.  Something I will continue to think about.

As much as I may not like the new layout, clunkyness, the sites slowness and the way Flickr have gone about things ref the Pro accounts, I see no reason to stop using the site as I have done in the past. I cancelled my Pro subscription as it was due for renewal and the 'Free' account would enable me to do everything that i wanted to.

I can deal with the adverts, my browser blocks most of them already and according to Flickr, I am only using 11.36% of the 1TB storage so plenty of scope there.

Dave

Now that is quite smart there. With that thinking I will definitely go to a free account. Get my refund. With the size photos I upload there, it may take me 20 years to fill up that space...lol.

Thanks Dave for some clear thinking.

just found out that I cant get the banner picture to change because I am using xp, an o/s that (possibly) flickr does not support fully, if so, are they in cahoots with microsoft to get people to change to windows 7 or 8

I am more than happy with xp, i use outlook express for email, which is not supported by windows 7 or 8

Hi Gordon,

The problem wont be the Operating System, are you using Internet Explorer? If so IE8 is old tech now and allot of web features are either unavailable or available with reduced features.

Firefox and Chrome work on XP with the new Flickr setup

Gordon,

I use all three due to work requirements but I prefer Chrome at home. When you download it and install it, you should be asked whether you want to migrate your information.

One thing to be mindful of, the Chrome instillation often asks if you want to install a tool bar. During the installation, chose 'Custom' and uncheck any box's referring to additional software.

All the best,Dave

cheers Dave.

I am a bit confused though about what you mean when it says I will be asked if I want to migrate my information, what info would this be?

Similar situation for me with Flickr but using only 0.24 of available storage. I have therefore cancelled my pro account. Quite a few of my contacts have move over to Ipernity so I have set up an account there.

I have been having an on going battle with Yahoo/Flickr about their service - even before it changed. Slow loading, missing thumbnails and pictures, poor browser compatibility and lacklustre support. What I don't get is that you now pay for a Pro account to basically remove the advertising, no extra functions or facilities above the free account (don't know if it removes the upload limit still).

I'm considering cancelling my Flickr account completely - I'm paid up until September which they extended three times for free due to their mistakes.

I have accounts with 500px and PhotoBucket who are up front with their terms of service and also everything works on their sites!

Peter.

I am still finding the new Flickr a real bind so most of my content is now going on Ipernity.
