Almost ready for new monitor......
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:08:56 AM »
Just about time to update my computer......the hard drive is full !!

Seriously, we are a two PC household and my wife gets the hand-me downs !  I have said before that they come with a live tutor as invariably the operating system and some of the programs change and she is happy with that arrangement.
Every 3 years or so, I get a new one and we retire the 6 year old one.

All this is preamble.  Does anyone have any experience with 27" IPS monitors?
I have pretty much narrowed my choice to
a) Asus PA279Q
b) Dell U2713H  (not the HM)

Both are 2560x1440 capable
both have 100% sRGB and 98% RGB
both come pre-calibrated
Price almost the same here.

I am not expecting a deluge of answers but just in case....    john

Hi John,

My system at work has two Dell U2413 AH-IPS and they are cracking monitors. Bulky and heavy but I like that as they feel solid and do not wobble about. Colours are pretty spot on, very little glare and for the size they dont get overly hot.

Being able to change the monitor from landscape to portrait is also very useful, I do this allot when working on posters and signs.

Rgds,
Dave

I have a pair of 23" IPS Dells at home - very happy with them.

I have two Dell monitors and love them both. (SP2208WFP/ U2410 Digital - last one for photoshop). Very good for color accuracy, though I have to say that I callibrate mine regularly.
Don't know anything about Asus.

Thanks for the replies all.  I went with Asus in the end for two reasons
A friend has the 246Q (and I was all set to buy the 24" but the model he has is superceded )
The Dell only available from Dell here....john
