spell check
« on: January 26, 2013, 09:35:03 PM »
For those of us who like to use big words or have fat finger syndrome, what happened to spell checker in the site move?
Maybe my education on how to get it back is lacking but I do miss it....john

It should be next to 'Preview' under the reply window I think. I never used it as I use plug-ins in Firefox for that kind of thing. Quick Reply does not have it either.

Another thing I noticed is under the reply window is '- Attachments and other options' We don't allow pdfs only jpg. Nor do we allow this. Restrictions: 10 per post, maximum total size 2560KB, maximum individual size 1024KB. But it says we do!

Here's the answer in the admin section.

Enable spell checking. You MUST have the pspell library installed on your server and your PHP configuration set up to use the pspell library. Your server DOES NOT appear to have this set up.

Thanks Charles.  Michael is away for a long weekend here (Australia Day- when the Brits first planted the flag) and I presume it is something he needs to take care of.
I could not remember the "attachments being there before" either but was not going to be too adamant and I have never had this "quick reply" button.....john

I've reported it to Gary and hopefully he can set up the pspell library. If not just put the British English Dictionary extension into Firefox or Chrome together with the 'Answers' extension and you will have all you need. Ive checked and they are extensions, not plug-ins.

Spell check is very helpfull for us that the first language is not english. It will be very difficult also for the DD members to understand what we mean when two words words have the same spelling but diferent meaning :)

Rex is correct, a window opens with nothing in it, even though I put in some misspelled words. This applies to both the reply window and the Quick reply window.
