I have stacked photo's with CS4 on a number of occasion's and been very happy with the result but today I tried to stack 12 photo's and the result is horrendous.
This is one of the original files, I have exposure lock on so all the photo's are the same exposure the only difference is the point of focus

and this is to result!!!! I auto aligned the photo's before stacking them, and sugestions please???? thanks Clare

Did you try running it through a second time to see if it was just a glitch ???

Yes, I restarted the program and then tried again and the same thing happened.

Try running them through combineZP (free as Stef says) or Zerene stacker which is a free trial for a month.  See what you get....john

Yes, I think I'll download it and have a go. I've always had good results with the CS4 stacking so never looked into any thing else.

Clare- sometimes CS has problems with stacking. The solution is either to use CombineZM (free) or jsut start stacking the first two images then stack 3/4 ...at the end you stack the stacked images. There are different ways of doing this: 1/2 and then combine the result with image 3...then the result with image 4... Alternatively load all images as layers into PS. Ctrl/CMD click the top two > align > stack > merge the result > click again the top two > align > stack > merge down...
Hope this helps?

I've just tried stacking just the first two images in CS and even after just two the result is all blown out. I've been at work today so not much time to play around, I will try CombineZM as soon as I have time. I'll let you know the result thanks Clare

I need to look into it as it should certainly NOT blow out the image. When you click "stack" do you click anything else in the window that opens? I will check after the ice hockey game and will come beack to you on this- as said it should not happen!

I've downloaded CombineZP and the result is fine. I've re-shot the stack and tried it again in Photoshop and the result is nowhere near as bad as the first stack but any highlighted areas are still blown out. It seems to be with this particular flower as I have stacked successfully on a number of occasions in the past.  I think I will stick with CombineZP for a while and see how I get on thanks Clare
