dxo vs capture 1 vs LR 4
« on: January 01, 2013, 11:41:45 PM »
Ok I've been playing around with DXO, Phase1 and LR4. Has anyone else noticed how DXO Optics Pro 8 decreases any effect a CP filter has on the image. Is there anywhere when using DXO Optics to factor in the filter. I've enjoyed using DXO but feel I get better images from LR4 and have more control. I'm just about to start using Capture 1. I would appreciate any comments on software and filters. Workflow is important but not the decisive factor in which software I'll invest, it is more about control and image quality. Cheers

For me, DXO scores every time over LR, mainly because of lens corrections but also because LR doesn't really "do" presets for Sony cameras, and the auto setting in ACR is way off the mark.  I can't speak for Capture 1

Had another session with DXO last night. Starting to like it more as it becomes more familiar. I tried adding a little warmth to some landscapes, not much about 500k and am quite pleased with the results.

No idea about DXO.

Have Capture One Express 6 (complimentary licence ) and also tried COne Pro 6 trial. LR4 seems better when it comes to flexibility in Exposure corrections. Both did not have presets for A580 though COne had for A200. Bought LR4 and using extensively. COne Exp now unistalled.

I'm still using trials on DXO and COne but I'm happier with LR4 and when the trials end will use this exclusively. DXO seems to over process too much for my liking

another issue with COne being it was not able to open RAW of my Fuji XS-1. Red turned blue!!! For one s'ware solution for various cameras if you own, LR4 is better
