Capture one for Sony pro version
« on: November 19, 2015, 07:54:19 PM »
Trying to decide between Capture one for Sony Pro or Corel Paintshop Pro x8 Ultimate and maybe adding Aftershot Pro 2.
I use a SonyA77 and am moving slowly to just shooting RAW.

I currently have Paintshop pro X7 and am somewhat satisfied but seems lacking in RAW conversion output.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the two.

Thanks
Jeff

I use Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC at considerable cost. I may soon go back to Photoshop 5 and Lightroom 4 which I own, as they are both sufficient for my use. However that does not answer your question.

Capture one for Sony Pro or Corel Paintshop Pro x8 Ultimate I have no real knowledge of. I did once download the trial version of Corel Paintshop Pro x7 and found it was not to my liking. I do not remember what put me off. At this writing I have noticed that Corel have Paintshop Pro x8 on sale, but that seems quite normal for them.

I use Corel Wordperfect x6 and have downloaded Wordperfect x8 trial only to find that there are few if any worthwhile improvements. They seem to just change the version number so that they can look like they have made improvements. The upgrade prices are not much less than the original price, so it is just extra money out for no appreciable return. I am almost sure that they do the same for Paintshop x? Pro.

Hopefully another member can give you better advice than my drivel. :D

I cannot help either.  I have used Photoshop since before the CC versions and Adobe Camera raw plus Photoshop since then.
I now subscribe to the Adobe cloud and have Lightroom as well.  I have looked at and tried LR but do not like the way it wants to take over the way I work so it is not for me and I continue to use Adobe Camera Raw which has the same engine under the hood as LR but is more ME friendly.
