Actions help in CS3
« on: December 22, 2007, 10:36:34 PM »
Once i have recorded an action in cs and it is in my actions pallete, how can i save this action as a file to my desktop/documents.

The reason i ask is i am going to format my computer and i dont want to re-record all my actions that are in my actions pallete.

Many thanks

Rob

Select the action you want to save

Go to the little button that opens the menu, it's in the top right corner of the actions palette - loosk like a downward pointing arrowhaead and 3 or 4 lines, click on it and a big menu appears...

roll down to Save Action...

Save it to a file, noting where the folder is located (the default can be tucked away quite deeply)

I'd then check the file is there before formatting (well, that's kinda obvious ;))

either the action or the folder in which the action is stored in needs to be highlighted and than you can save it anywhere you want.

Worked it out :-
Needed to create a new set to save actions in, as i'd had them in the default actions folder and it wouldnt let me save from there.
As soon as i created a new set and copied the actions into there i could save them.

Thanks for the advice
