ACR profiles
« on: March 30, 2011, 11:04:12 PM »
Hey

Question, I have photoshop cs5 and use acr for my raw's and use the lens profiles to correct for lens distortions but I'm tired of having to scroll through the canon and nikon profiles for my Tamron lenses. Does any one know how I can get rid of the canOn and nikon lens profiles so it's fast selecting?

Thanks

I don't see it as a problem, it's only five clicks to get to any Tamron lens. However you can setup a new lens profile or custom setting for all your lenses. I have never done this myself but I imagine you set up a custom setting for each of your lenses, then all you have to do is click your lens. A few less clicks, and this would allow you to modify the ACR profile your own liking.

Hey Clive, thanks.   let me know if you find anything

Hey AScot,

I mean that there are loads of Duplicate Tamron lens for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony.  I just want to whittle the duplicates down.  I know it's easy to get to the lens profiles but there are just a ton of duplicates profiles for the other systems.  it's just annoying to have to scroll down through duplicates every time.

thanks all
mike

I think I see what you mean, the first Tamron is an 18-200mm f3.5-6.3DiII A14E and the next 3 are for the same lens but with a different code at the end that seems to go on and on with all the lenses. I think the code (in bold above) is Tamrons code designating revisions to the basic lens.

However if that is true or not, it does not really help you. I think if you can find where the profiles are stored on your computer (they are the same for ACR6.3 and Lightroom 3) it would only be a case of deleting the ones you do not want. I have looked on my 32 bit computer and have failed to find them, although they are there somewhere as I remember seeing them some time ago when I updated ACR.

I searched on Adobe for info on this and found this link here but not sure if it will help. I also read that you can find them at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw but not on my 32 bit computer, perhaps on my 64 bit computer, I will have a look later.

Stef would know, but she's away. :(

I found where they are on a 32 bit windows 7 computer. C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Tamron\Sony\.

The problem is that there is only one entry for each lens, 14 lenses. I think if you backed up the Tamron folder then remove the Tamron files from the Canon, Nikon and Pentax folders you will have the answer. If you are unable to find the ProgramData folder, do a search for it in the search bar under the all programs, Type C:\ProgramData. Or turn off 'hide system folders'.

Good luck, and don't tell me you use an apple computer. :D

yup exactly!  it's just annoying to have to scroll through all those extra lenses.

I'll take a look there.  thanks AScot.  I'll play with it and see what I can figure out.  I'll post my findings when i get around to playing.  thanks again for the hard work

oh and...

NO APPLE FOR ME! (too expensive, i can buy 2-3 computers over a 5-7 period of time for the price of a Mac)  It's Win 7 x64.  I'd used Ubuntu if my apps worked in there. hahaha

Perfecto!   Thanks Ascot for hunting that down for me.  I knew it had to be something simple.  I just haven't had a chance to research that as my business has been keeping me quite busy!!!  so i'm not complaining and when I had a bit of down time, I always forgot about it. hahaha.

thanks, the lens profiles are beautiful now
