a3 prints?
« on: November 28, 2007, 10:19:18 PM »
Hi
Just done an A3 print for a friend and was wondering how everyone else goes about setting up for printing.
I normally open pic resize to 250 dpi with restrain propertys and resize off, then open new file at A3 click and drag with shift key pressed and then transform to give a border of around an inch or so.Very happy with results but nice to hear what other people do. I used to make the file size bigger by converting to tiff files but cant see any notable differance when printing.

             Regards Steve

for a3 prints, I put the full-sized file on a flash drive and take it to the lab...
but your technique sounds sensible to me :)

(I can't get an a3 printer until I stop buying lenses )

My images are all saved as tiff files after editing at 300dpi, so i basically do what fother does.

A3 printer is on my shopping list,  HOPEFULLY after the A700

Hi
think i can remember a costing of prints in digital photo mag some time ago and they reckoned an A3  print cost around £2.00 in ink and paper. Reckon thats somewhere near it.Thats not including your time, cost of printer and camera skills.

                       Steve.

Hi sprint16v,

its     http://www.dscolourlabs.co.uk/digital_photo_printing.cfm

The only thing i will say about them is that the images do tend to be slightly darker.
And i have had some images that have had a slight colour cast to them.
But ive now got an adjustment layer i apply to the images i send and that seems to be ok.

Other than that the prints are good quality and the company is really good to deal with, had a print with a kink in the paper from them, phoned up and the sent a replacement out net day (foc)
